TO Wards Peace (TWP) is a community-led and risk-driven, wraparound intervention model that takes a public health approach to the intervention, prevention and interruption of community violence in the Northwest and Scarborough regions of Toronto. This program draws on the lived experience of communities and persons affected by various levels of violence.

Gun Violence city-wide

Of the 345 incidents of shootings and firearm discharges in Toronto in 2023, 26 occurred in the TWP Scarborough catchment area (Malvern East & West, Morningside, West Hill). 22 occurred in the TWP North West catchment area (Black Creek, Glenfield-Jane Heights, Rexdale-Kipling). TWP has supported 74 individuals in the North West of Toronto during its pilot year (November 2022 – November 2023). This was before the program’s expansion to Scarborough.

As of November 4, 2024, our city has seen 395 incidents of shootings and firearm discharges in 2024. 18 occurred in the TWP Scarborough catchment area (Malvern East & West, Morningside, West Hill). 30 occurred in the TWP North West catchment area (Black Creek, Glenfield-Jane Heights, Rexdale-Kipling)
